Age Five: This shows Kyra in her traditional Northern parka. She actually left her home earlier then this, but dressed traditionally until she outgrew the parka. Originally, she looked a lot more Yupik-y, which her mother was happy about, but as she grew older, her father's Southern side sort of shined through.

Age Thirteen: This is sort of the calm, regular period of Kyra's life. She's settled down with her mother, and the boys seem to...like...her. Anyway, not much else to say about this. But she's begun to stretch her right earlobe, as her mom had requested. It's still a very small plug now, but it grows to about an inch over the next seven years.

Age Seventeen: This is a year before Kyra left her husband, and as you can probably tell, she isn't very happy. Her outfit is very plain here, reflecting Ian's lack of material possessions due to his religion. Anyway, on a side note, her left earring is obtained a year and a half after this, in celebration of starting a new life as...a serf?

Age Twenty-Five: Two years after the story officially ends. I'm not going to talk about this much. I'm pretty sure you can figure the basic idea out, if you decided to look at the picture even without the spoiler warning.
